chingay parade 2005

chingay parade '05 was not too bad.
i mean, you can see the tremendous amounts of effort and energy put into it. the dazzling lights, the fascinating colours. it was one heck of a parade.
but thats just exactly what it is - a parade.
i feel alil bad to say this but after awhile, it actually gets quite boring. i actually preferred ushering to seating there and watching the parade. oops.

but still it wasnt too bad, really. now im trying to be politically correct and sensitive here, cos if you want to know, several people left like three quarters into the parade. ok, maybe they are smart and wanted to beat the crowd which will be huge at the end of it, but really, i think thats only part of the reason.

heres abit of advice, if you want to watch the chingay parade next year, be an usher; cos as one, you get to be in the stands for free where the ticket-holders paid forty bucks to be in; and furthermore you get paid albeit only a measly five bucks. and then you still get a goodie bag. and you dont have to squeeze with the rest of the viewers who didnt get a ticket and so theyre behind the stands having to stand and be uncomfortable.

but of cos being an usher is not all fun and no sweat.

i went out of my way to help this pregnant japanese lady pick up a packet of wet tissues from underneath the viewing area which she dropped. which meant crawling under the metal stands and risk hitting myself.

but then of course, that feeling you get when you help someone just puts a smile on your face.

having said that, im not too sure if i'll return to watch the parade next year. i guess its an affair you dont have to catch every single year, but at least having see it once in your lifetime would be good enough (:

oh and before the parade priscilla and i ate at wheelock's place sakae sushi, which cheated us out of 11.90$. some sashimi bento which we didnt even order??! ahh well, a lesson learnt. always check your freaking receipt before you leave any restaurant or shit.
